Send attachments as links
you can take back.
FileLink adds a Share securely button to Outlook. Attach a file the usual way, and FileLink offers to send it as a protected link instead: verified, tracked, and revocable after you hit Send.

An attachment is a copy you give away
Once an email with an attachment is sent, the file sits in the recipient's inbox, their downloads folder, their backups, and every inbox it gets forwarded to. You can't see who opened it, you can't stop a forward, and you can't take it back when a deal falls through or someone leaves.
A FileLink is different. The email carries a link, not the file. The file stays on FileLink's encrypted storage in India, and you decide who can open it, for how long, and what they can do with it.
How it works in Outlook
1. Attach as usual
Drag a file into a new email or click Attach. FileLink notices and shows a bar at the top of the message: Send this attachment as a secure FileLink.in link instead? Ignore it and the email goes as a normal attachment.
2. Choose your controls
Click Use FileLink.in. The FileLink pane opens with your attachments ready. Set when the link expires, require a one-time passcode (OTP), turn on a dynamic watermark, and decide whether downloads are allowed.
3. Insert the link and send
FileLink encrypts and uploads the files, removes the attachments from the email, and inserts a short link block in their place. Your email goes out lighter, and the files never leave your control.
4. Manage it later
Open Manage links from any email to see who has viewed each link, extend or shorten its expiry, or revoke it. Revoking works instantly, even on emails sent weeks ago.
What you can do from Outlook
- Share files and whole folders. Add several files or drop in a folder. A folder goes as one FolderLink with its subfolders intact.
- Set expiry your way. Choose from 1 day to 1 year, pick an exact date and time, or set no expiry.
- Verify every recipient. With OTP on, recipients enter a code sent to their email before the file opens.
- Watermark every page. Dynamic watermarks show the viewer's email and IP address, so a screenshot can be traced.
- Stay view-only. Files open in FileLink's secure in-browser viewer. Downloads and printing stay off unless you allow them.
- See what happened. Each link shows every open, page and minute of viewing, with timestamp, IP and device.
- Find the email again. Every link remembers the subject and recipients of the email it was sent in, so you can find the conversation later.
- Revoke or extend. End access the moment it's no longer needed, or give someone more time without resending.
Built for the way confidential work actually moves
Most confidential files still leave a company by email: a term sheet to an investor, a board pack to directors, an offer letter to a candidate, a contract draft to opposing counsel. The Outlook add-in protects that moment without asking anyone to learn a new tool. Senders stay in Outlook. Recipients click a link and open the file in their browser, with no account and no app to install.
Security, in short
- Encryption: in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256-GCM), a unique key per file
- Storage: India (Mumbai)
- AI: none on your files
- Sign-in: your FileLink account, through a standard secure sign-in window. The add-in never sees your password
- Permissions: the add-in reads and edits only the email you're composing, and only when you use it
Deploying it for your organisation
The add-in is deployed by a Microsoft 365 administrator in the Microsoft 365 admin center, once, for everyone or for chosen groups. It then appears in each person's Outlook automatically, usually within 24 hours. No installer runs on anyone's computer.
For admins: Microsoft 365 admin center → Settings → Integrated apps → Upload custom apps → Provide link to manifest file → https://outlook.filelink.in/manifest.xml
The attachment prompt (the bar that appears when you attach a file) needs this admin deployment. Need help? Email hello@filelink.in and we'll walk your IT team through it.
